Churchill Falls I
Churchill Falls, taller than the famous Niagra Falls from it's apex, is both a natural wonder and a marvel of human destruction. The once-great Churchill river pushed massive volumes of water over the cliffs edge, carving out the depths of the Bowdoin Gorge. The second largest underground hydroelectric plant in North America was built in 1963 brought it to a trickle. While the river has lost its power, it has supplied it to much of Canada's eastern seaboard, and the rock revealed beneath the once great fall has brought a new beauty to its delicate descent.
